Teams have mixed colours of ‘stone’ but have to build Stonehenge in pieces of the same colour. But first they have to construct a ‘shield’ to hide their pieces from prying eyes and industrial espionage! Given the roles of Manager, Negotiator, Buyers and Surveyor, teams need to plan their strategy before information-gathering and negotiation periods begin. Can they negotiate with each other to get what they want?
Trainer's Notes provide full guidance.
'Stonehenge Plus!' was fantastic! With 20 delegates, in four teams of five, it worked really well.
D. Harvie, Hagemeyer UK
Used as a teamwork activity for Department Heads and Directors, 'Stonehenge Plus!' highlighted the importance of having a win-win approach when dealing with others and having good communication within the team. It is an interactive activity that offers practical opportunity for the participants to practise their ability to negotiate. The taking part is great fun for the participants who appreciate putting the theory into practice in a fun environment. It gives a chance for the Trainer to observe real behaviours and helps participants to reflect on them.

We love this exercise... and so do our participants! The best learning points were that (1) good negotiation needs good planning and preparation, (2) you need to have a clear negotiation strategy that allows some flexibility, and (3) stay aware of the total matter as well as the specific negotiation. An energetic, fun exercise that participants enjoy and which helps them explore and recognise the essentials of good negotiating.
