Teams represent four departments of the Metropolitan Police and their task is to catch bank robbers. They have
individual budgets that they can spend on getting information from the Trainer or from informers. With the right information they can crack the case.
However, they cannot succeed on their own – but by sharing information and resources with others they can catch the culprits and achieve a win win situation.
An ideal exercise for problem solving, negotiation and communication skills. Participants really get involved.
M Jorgensen, Quidditas Training
Excellent team working exercise that gets any group thinking and working together - while having fun. Had lots of positive comment from the attendees.
S. Dandikar, Blaby District Council
Energising and good fun - and not as simplistic as it might seem. Enjoyed by all.
M. Riley, Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust
Over 10 sessions it never failed to intrigue and frustrate - and I now know Soho and the West End much better! A great success!
P Gorley, Compuserve
We use 'The Bank Job' primarily to foster better understanding within and between teams (across many functions, including Sales, Finance, Technical Services, IS). I have also used it at a quarterly teambuilding event. It highlights the need to cooperate rather than compete. We have a sales-oriented and very competitive culture, and often this can get in the way of getting the job done. Simple to set up, simple to facilitate, but powerful for learning. The “realism” of the exercise helps to bring it to life.
T. Denton, Coors Brewers
I used The Bank Job on a basic supervisory management course – working with teams exercise. The best learning points included communication and working together. It was fun, interesting & useful.
