Representing the senior management team of a travel company with holidaymakers currently in Borneo, teams are faced with a series of problems from Dirk Hansen, courier on the trip. To deal with the problems and keep customer morale high the teams may need to spend money from the profits. Failure to do so may result in customer morale plummeting. But keeping them satisfied can eat into the overall profit. What a dilemma! Team consensus is not always easy to achieve – especially when poor decisions come back to haunt the group!
This activity now comes with a short introductory video. Play the Introductory video (lasting approx 5 mins) at the start to brief delegates on their task. Or simply use it to brief yourself on how to introduce the activity with confidence.
Full guidance is provided in the Trainer’s Notes and PowerPoint presentation.
This activity is supplied digitally via the Northgate Trainerhub and can be used in both virtual and face-to-face classrooms.
Benefits of the online Northgate Trainerhub include:
'Decisions! Decisions!' was the highlight of the course! It was extremely useful in assessing the team process - and many learning points were extracted about how we make the most successful decisions.
Karen Brasier, Centre of Vocational Education Manager, City of Bristol College
'Decisions! Decisions!' is a practical and very exciting exercise with immediate feedback about decisions made. The set-up of using a computer program, with log-in codes, comes across as new and refreshing to the participants. The best learning points are the thinking about the consequences of your decisions and that you need to anticipate,
Vicky de Bruijn, Senior Director, Talent & Leadership Development EMEA, Hilton Worldwide
Used on a training course with 12 managers. It went exceedingly well and highlighted some of their shortcomings to decision-making and interpersonal behaviour in a group. They all enjoyed the experience and it provided me with the ideal vehicle to work on consensus decision-making and team review techniques. I look forward to being able to use it again.
Ken Chynoweth, JKC Training Services
Used at a teamwork and leadership event with a fairly new team of five executives. The best learning outcome was how the team worked together to make decisions – very fast. This linked well to the use of MBTI profiles. Also, how they balanced profits and customer satisfaction. An excellent learning tool for management teams to review how they work together.
Sheila Lamont, Lamont Associates
'Decisions! Decisions!' is a fantastic training tool. I use it as an activity on my Management training courses and I have got some great results from it. Delegates really get a lot from the experience.
Andrew Pipes, Commercial Training Team, Volkswagen Group UK Ltd
I've used 'Time Trial!' (formerly 'InBox'), 'Hotel' and 'Decisions! Decisions!' and all three are very much worth the investment. They bring out fantastic learning objectives, are easy to facilitate and the supporting materials are great; what's most important is they work!
Sam Holland, Head of L&D, Talarius Ltd
Both teams enjoyed 'Decisions! Decisions!' and we were able to assess a person’s understanding of profit and customer service through the exercise.
Marion Homer, Retail Volunteer Manager, Royal Trinity Hospice London
Used 'Winning Strategies' and 'Decisions! Decisions!' as part of an assessment centre and they definitely helped bring the best candidate to the fore.
