Pizza Panic! - that's what this business game used to be called - before we changed it to Going for Profit! - we thought it sounded more serious.
But the original title captures more of the flavour!
Teams compete to run a pizza takeaway. There are four shops in town and there’s an auction to see who gets which one. But take care! Overbid and you get lumbered with higher repayments; underbid and you might not get the shop of your dreams.
Once teams have a shop location, there are decisions to make:
- how much to charge for a pizza?
- how much to pay staff?
- how much to spend on advertising?
Plus will they want info on what the other teams are charging and spending?
You have to make the right team decisions to bring home the pepperoni!
But once the first results are out, the sparks (and the blame) begin to fly!💥
See now why it was called Pizza Panic!
But if cool heads prevail and teams can get it together, you can see why it’s called Going for Profit!

Going for Profit! is always the highlight of any course and full instructions are provided. It’s easy to run and no specialist financial knowledge is needed (though teams need to know that if it costs them £10 to make a pizza and they sell it for £10 they are going to make a loss). Believe me, this has happened!
You can use the activity with anyone from shopfloor to Board members. They all take it in their stride (or they don’t!).
Use it for:
- teamwork
- planning and forecasting
- leadership
- making tough decisions
- analysing and controlling the numbers
- business acumen (have they got it?)
- finance for the non-financial
A PowerPoint helps introduce and debrief it and there’s an introductory video to brief you the Trainer. You’ll wonder how you ever did any training or assessment without this powerful training tool.
