Stonehenge Plus!™ | Negotiation Training Activity

Teams have mixed colours of ‘stone’ but have to build Stonehenge in pieces of the same colour. But first they have to construct a ‘shield’ to hide their pieces from prying eyes and industrial espionage! Given the roles of Manager, Negotiator, Buyer and Surveyor, teams need to plan their strategy before information-gathering and negotiation periods begin. Can they negotiate with each other to get what they want?

• Allows teams to practise bartering and influencing skills
• Highlights the importance of planning for negotiations
• Encourages teams to have a negotiation strategy and team roles
• Tests ethics and honesty of team members
• Assesses whether teams can break down natural barriers in order to work together

1. Divide participants into four teams.
2. Issue the Briefing Sheets and wood blocks.
3. Let teams study the briefs and allocate roles.
4. Observe teams in action.
5. At the end of the activity, lead a discussion on team performances and learning outcomes.

This activity is for face-to-face training. It is supplied as a hard copy pack and the digital files are supplied via the Northgate Trainerhub.

This Northgate Training activity comes with a five-year licence for repeat use with up to 24 participants at a time, for use by Trainers based at one licence-holding site.

All Trainers physically based at the same office location can access the Northgate resources during the five-year term, including the digital resources supplied on the Trainerhub via your own site-specific Trainer Dashboard. If you have Trainers based at other locations, and/or remote workers, who would like to access and use the Northgate resources, we can advise further depending on your requirements.
