Northgate says...
"Teams have to be flexible, agile and willing to change! Can teams rise to the challenge - or will they get bogged down? Double-dealing, lies and cheating are never far away. One Trainer reported that the worst action witnessed was when one team 'stole' a piece from another team. Provided a great discussion point!"
- Allows teams to practise bartering and influencing skills
- Highlights the importance of planning for negotiations
- Encourages teams to have a negotiation strategy and team roles
- Tests ethics and honesty of team members
- Assesses whether teams can break down natural barriers in order to work together
Ideally suited to:
Introducing the basic principles of negotiation and the art of compromise. Also useful for teamwork, planning and interpersonal skills.
Teams have mixed colours of ‘stone’ but have to build Stonehenge in pieces of the same colour. But first they have to construct a ‘shield’ to hide their pieces from prying eyes and industrial espionage! Given the roles of Manager, Negotiator, Buyer and Surveyor, teams need to plan their strategy before information-gathering and negotiation periods begin. Can they negotiate with each other to get what they want?
- Divide participants into four teams.
- Issue the Briefing Sheets and wood blocks.
- Let teams study the briefs and allocate roles.
- Observe teams in action.
- At the end of the activity, lead a discussion on team performances and learning outcomes.
Full guidance supplied in the Trainer’s Notes.
- Trainer’s Notes
- Trainer's PowerPoint
- Team Briefs
- Sets of wooden blocks (4 colours)
- Druids Bank Cash
- A4 Card, Scissors & Sticky Tape

Hazel Sia, Certified Trainer, Comsolutions Sdn Bhd I recently had the chance to conduct the 'Stonehenge Plus!' activity - and this time, I had 4 teams and it was a great success! I think you are genius to create something simple and fun! At one point, one team was desperate - they needed that one last piece and could not understand why other teams are keeping what they DO NOT need. To make it worse, one team wanted to charge them an arm and a leg. Later when he found out that there were actually 2 teams that had what he wanted, that's when the table turned dramatically. He could in fact bargain and got what he wanted at a cheap price. It was hilarious, yet very eye-opening. Thank you and looking forward to trying out more of your games!

Lynn Fraser, Learning & Development Manager, Jumeirah Global Learning Centre 'Stonehenge Plus!' was fantastic – it’s a really great tool to showcase differences around collaboration and teamwork as well as negotiation.

Steve Laing, Consultant, QC Training International Stonehenge Plus!' is terrific - lots of fun and dastardly deeds aplenty! One team tried to buy alter pieces for other teams from me in an effort to control the whole activity! Very interesting to see the dynamics in the room change with the skulduggery of the above mentioned team... It set up the day beautifully to be able to refer back to 'Stonehenge Plus!' throughout the day.

D. Harvie, Hagemeyer UK 'Stonehenge Plus!' was fantastic! With 20 delegates, in four teams of five, it worked really well.

Sarah Ode, Leadership & Management Specialist, Potential Unearthed Thanks Northgate Training Activities - 'Stonehenge Plus!' was brilliant fun! We used it on a 'Negotiating through Influence & Persuasion' course. There were some crafty tactics at play to secure a win at all costs! Lots of lightbulb moments and learning afterwards. We're looking forward to running it again!
