Northgate Newsletter March 2026

Hello to all Trainers, Consultants and L&D Specialists!

It’s been a busy and encouraging start to the year.

If the last few months are anything to go by, the shift towards experiential learning is accelerating - particularly as teams appreciate more practical and engaging ways to explore key topics (without being lectured at). So far this month, orders have come in from a wide range of organisations including Barclays, Liverpool FC, Royal Air Force, University of Miami, Dorset County Hospital, University of South Wales, Corona Energy, Ryman, Elior and Daniel Thwaites Plc, and lots more - alongside many independent trainers and consultants. We’ve seen particularly strong demand for sessions focused on our new topics Psychological Safety and Values. Highly relevant as organisations look to strengthen collaboration, inclusion and open communication within teams.

Psychological Safety Training Activity (1 hour)
Brand-new and already popular. It’s crucial for great teamwork. How many times have I seen the most junior member in a group (or the quietest) come up with the right way forward only to be ignored? How many times have I seen team members who haven’t grasped what the activity is all about, afraid to say they don’t understand? How many times has someone been unable to say ‘Sorry’ or admit a mistake. When you don’t feel ‘safe’ in a group you unwittingly cause the emergence of a dysfunctional team. Psychological Safety highlights the benefits of ‘safety’ and exposes the downside of an ‘unsafe’ environment.

Values & Integrity Training Activity (1 hour)
Even at the highest level, integrity can be shaky. It needs constant attention and reinforcement and that’s what this pack hopes to do – in a relaxed and fun way. It looks at organisational values – what is our organisation about? What does it stand for? How is it perceived? What values does it wish to promote (and why)? And it explores personal values. Participants select from a list to identify what their values really are. Then crucially the activity puts them to the test. Participants are faced with 15 ethical questions. Using coloured counters to choose their answers (yellow = yes; green = no) they secretly place their counters in a ‘matchbox’ and the results are confidentially revealed. Quite a few surprises! What you SAY you’d do is not always what you WILL do!! Take a look here.

What Trainers are telling us

We always love hearing how your sessions go. Here’s recent feedback from a large-scale conference delivery: "Myself and one of my team facilitated the Eldorado! activity at our sales conference in Spain in January. We had approx. 120 delegates. It went down amazingly well and was the talk of the evening that day. I'm so pleased we ran this activity - thank you to you and your team and Mike for all your help and in ensuring we got the activity pack in time for the event." That’s exactly what we’re aiming for - learning that sticks beyond the session!

Communication is the Key! Training Activity (1.5 hours)
We get such good reports about this activity (and it’s hilarious to watch as a Trainer). If you want to improve departmental meetings, sharpen up on emails, stress the importance of working together and brush up communication skills generally – then this is the activity for you!  Two teams (up to six per team), a 90-minute deadline, a shared laptop (for emailing) and a joint task (it’s the combined score that’s important). What could possibly go wrong? How long have you got?!
